Police Stations are the backbone of the safety and order in our country. While all the police stations perform their tasks well, there are few that the ministry identifies as best performing. Recently, the center announced the to 10 police stations in India for the year 2020. This is done every year by the Government of India to motivate better functioning and to bring healthy competition in the sector. This selection is done based on the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi align with the directions of the Director-General of Police during the 2015 conference in Kutch, Gujarat. The Prime Minister has directed that guidelines should be laid down for ranking police stations and assessing their performance based on feedback. As per the Ministry of Home Affairs, this year’s survey for the best 10 police stations in India was conducted under challenging circumstances.

Top 10 Police Stations in India
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there were various restrictions on movement. As per the center, it was very difficult to access police stations located in remote areas during these times. This survey was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the government. A vast majority of police stations short-listed from the thousands of police stations in the country are police stations located in small towns and rural areas. With data analysis, direct observation, and public feedback, the Top 10 Police Stations in India were ranked out of 16,671 police stations. The ranking process began with shortlisting of the best-accomplishing Police Stations in each State on the basis of addressing
- Property offense
- Crime against women
- Crime against weaker sections
- Missing persons, unidentified found persons, and unidentified dead bodies
The last parameter is introduced this year. 75 police stations were selected for the ranking process from the shortlisted stations. For the final ranking, 19 parameters were identified to assess the standards of assistance, and performance and identify techniques of improvement in policing. The infrastructure of the police station, the approachability of personnel, and the feedback of citizens were also taken into consideration to rank the top 10 police stations in India.

The annual ranking of police stations acknowledges the hard work of police officers, supports police forces, and also offers input on many facets of the country’s police force for future guidance.
